The last church on Church Street, Blessed Sacrament, was torn down the first week of November. It had stood in Jonesboro since the late 1900's. 

The last Mass was held October 1, 2017 with standing room only. After removing the stained glass windows, furniture, and other important items, the building was torn down the first week of November. 

Sunday, October 8, I stood across the street from the Blessed Sacrament and painted a sketch of the building. After working on it off and on for nearly two months back in the studio, it is finally finished. I chose to capture one day in the long existence of this church and pay homage to its heritage and the memory of its parishioners. I wanted to celebrate this building while creating a tangible memory of its existence for others. I know one of the parishioners and listened as she talked about the sadness surrounding losing the building. I could hear and feel her grief as she reminisced about the church. She told me about her loving memories of the grand church.
